Bolz Conservatory Exhibits
Bolz Conservatory hosts many events at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison, WI. Beginning August 8 there will be an Integrated Pest Management program. This program focuses on how many insects are beneficial to control plant damage and also prevent the use of chemicals or pesticides. This educational program, along with the garden’s other exhibits, will continue through September 25.

I have yet to attend a Renaissance Fair. The Bristol Renaissance Faire is going on now through September 5. Children 4 and under are free! This sounds like a great way to have fun, laugh, and enjoy the adventure.

I was astonished as I was browsing a website to have found this Monsanto ad. Located near the end of the ad in small, fine print there was a list of unfamiliar ingredients that a crop must be tolerant to. The ad noted, “Roundup brand agriculture herbicides will kill crops that are not tolerant to glyphosate.” While crops that are tolerant to glyphosate are genetically modified crops.

Recycled tires used at children’s playgrounds!! Zach and I recently saw numerous playgrounds in the Madison area that are covered with recycled tire mulch. This seemed to be softer and more resistant than wood chips, sand, pebbles, etc. The mulch can improve overall safety for children while playing, while there are also other options like soft play areas which you can get from sites like softplaydesignandinstallation.co.uk.
Today, I am researching where I would like to recycle my tires from my vehicle. Piling them up in a landfill will not be the best option for me. This site provides information about the types of products that are being made from recycled tires.
